A BRIEF OUTLINE OF EACH CLASS

Partners

0-2 years

Under 2 years old and require an adult to accompany you.

Seahorses

2-3 ½ years

Under 3 ½ years old and require an adult to accompany you.

Terrapins

3 1/2 to school age

New to swimming lessons without an adult and may lack water confidence and unable to swim without an aid.

Aqua Bears

Non Swimmer

New to swimming lessons without an adult, may lack water confidence and cannot swim without an aid or may have been in Terrapins.

Newts

5m – 10m Swimmer

Confident in water, can submerge under water and swim 5 metres on your front and back.

Cygnets

10m-25m Swimmer

Confident in water out of your depth, can swim 10m with a good Front crawl and 5 metres Backstroke, Basic Breaststroke and Butterfly with initial diving skills.

Note: Partner, Seahorse & Terrapin classes are all Pre-School age and the progression is strictly age dependant.  Other classes are school age and above and are ability based.

Swans

25m Swimmer

Confident in water out of your depth, can swim 25m with a basic Front crawl stroke and 15 metres Backstroke, 10 metres Breaststroke and Butterfly with basic diving skills.

Piranhas

25-50m Swimmer

Able to swim 25m effective Front crawl with correct breathing, effective Backstroke, effective Breaststroke and 10m effective Butterfly with initial Basic Diving skills.

Sharks

50m-100m Swimmer

Able to swim 50metres Front crawl, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.

Advanced

100m-200m Swimmer

Able to swim all 4 strokes for 100m to a high standard and complete individual medley.

Advanced Plus

Swimmers who can swim 200m plus to a high standard using all four strokes (Butterfly 100m) looking to push things further and perfect racing starts and turns.
