Lane Swimming

Usually aimed at Adults capable of swimming 25m who wish to increase their stamina or prefer a more controlled environment for swimming lengths. The benefits of lane swimming are that no one cuts across the width and no one dives or jumps in from the sides, meaning that swimmers can concentrate on swimming.

The pool is divided into 3 lanes Slow Medium and Fast. The lanes are orientated to minimise waves with the fast lane set in the middle. This ensures that the steps in both the slow and medium lane are available to swimmers without having to cross the Fast lane where swimmers are likely to be tumble turning. Lanes at lunch time are usually quieter than the two evening sessions currently on offer.

Choosing which lanes are appropriate to you is simple and will depend on the standard of people already in the lanes. A quick look will tell you whether today you might be better in the slow lane than the medium lane and you can always move up or down a lane if the type of swimmer using the lane changes or you find you have improved.

The evening sessions are the same but tend to attract a larger number of swimmers.

Aquarobics

A water based exercise class suitable for all fitness levels but ideal for those who want to start an exercise program and enjoy being in water. Being a swimmer helps but is not essential as exercises can be undertaken in the shallowest part of the pool.

Please advise the instructor if you are a non-swimmer.

We offer 1 day-time class and 3 evening classes suitable for 16 and over. These classes are fun and take you through a series of exercises to improve posture, toning the body, maintaining flexibility and are a good cardio vascular work out with the advantage of the support from the water to reduce the risk of joint impact during exercise.

Senior Aquamove on a Friday (50+) focuses more on mobility, flexibility and general fitness.
